Thanks for your interest in the art of storytelling!

As a performer I have reinvented myself several times (Whispers the Clown, Magician, Puppeteer, Mother Goose, Granny Magic and Storyteller Glenda Bonin). These new directions have taken place in response to a need to pivot and redirect my talent, energy, and interests to reach new audiences and grow. I am currently developing a new body of work relating to the Westward Movement and Arizona History. This is not to say that I am no longer available to the audiences I have served in the past. This is simply a new direction and focus of my energy as I continue to grow as a performer and storyteller.

Last month I did two shows with Glenda Bonin, that storyteller person lady, during the Grow 2B Fit family fitness day at Apollo Middle School in Tucson, AZ. What a blast!
Lots of kids and their families came to celebrate healthy choices. The day featured hands-on activities, like cooking and eating good stuff. They also provided fun exercises for everyone to do: zumba, jump rope, basketball, tennis – things like that. Everyone had crazy-fun time!!
We did “Squirrely Shirley Meets Fry-Fry.” and the kids had a lot of fun helping me say “bye-bye to Fry-Fry” so I could start to take better care of myself.

Here’s what the organizers said in their thank you note to me: “Your puppet show was incredible and all of the families and other organizations enjoyed it. You have given children and parents an opportunity to learn about healthy eating and living through in a fun and interactive manner.”

Cool, huh?

I have lots more news about our summer plans, and I’ll get back to you with that stuff next time.

Your friend,
Squirrely Shirley
