In the last few weeks, I’ve been scampering around getting ready for winter since I need lots of acorns and nuts saved up for when the weather gets cold.
I’ve also been thinking about next summer and how I finally get to be a SUPER HERO for the 2015 Library Summer Reading Program. (Librarians call the summer reading program the “SRP.” if you add an “L” and a “U” to SRP, you get SLURP -hee-hee-hee – but I digress).
Anyway, I can hardly wait because it’s not every day when a squirrel gets to wear a SUPER HERO outfit, and I just found the one that’s right for me. It is purple and has a big “S” on it (to stand for SUPER SQUIRRELY SHIRLEY, of course)!
Every super hero has a reason for doing good, and my reason can’t be better: helping kids learn to read and have a great time finding out about stuff from books.
Here’s thing: ONCE YOU LOVE TO READ, YOU CAN BE COME A SUPER HERO, TOO!
What do you think? Will this fly (the idea, not me)?
Gotta go and check if my tree house can take all the excitement my new show will create.
In the meantime, have fun, read a good book and watch this space for more news.
Your pal,
Squirrely Shirley
